Your health data stays on your device. Here is exactly what that means.

  • No account required
  • No ads, ever
  • No analytics or tracking
  • Data stays on your device

Who we are

Dawai (دوائي) is a medication reminder and adherence tracking app developed by Marwan Al Jasmi. The app is available on iOS 16 and above, and Android 8.0 and above.

Contact: contact@nexudo.tech. Website: dawai.digital

Your health data never leaves your device. We do not collect it, store it on any server, or share it with anyone. The only information that ever reaches a network is an anonymous medicine name or hospital name when you use the search feature. There is no account, no email address, no advertising, and no analytics.

What the app stores and where

All data you enter into Dawai is stored exclusively on your device in an encrypted database (SQLCipher, AES-256, hardware-bound key). This includes:

  • Profile names and relationship types you create
  • Medicine names, types, strengths, doses, and schedules
  • Dose logs and adherence history
  • Health measurements (blood pressure, blood glucose, weight)
  • Doctor and pharmacy contact details
  • Storage, stock, and expiry information
  • Notification preferences and app settings

None of this data is transmitted to us or to any third party. It is yours, it stays on your device, and you control it entirely.

What the app sends over the network

The app makes two types of anonymous network requests. Neither request contains any personal information, health data, account identifier, or device identifier.

  • Drug information lookup: when you search for a medicine by name, the app sends the drug name or a standardised drug code to our self-hosted drug data API. The API returns publicly available information from sources including the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The search term is not logged, not associated with your identity, and not retained.
  • Hospital and clinic name search: when you search for a hospital or clinic to associate with a doctor, the app queries OpenStreetMap using the text you type. The search term is not associated with your identity.

What is never sent over the network: your medicine schedules, dose logs, health measurements, profile names, doctor details, notification history, device identifier, or any other personal or health information.

iCloud sync (iPhone and iPad only)

If you enable iCloud sync, the app stores an encrypted backup of your data in your own private iCloud container. This container is associated with your Apple ID, not with us. We have no access to it, cannot read its contents, and do not receive any notification when it is updated.

Apple's own privacy policy governs how Apple handles iCloud data: apple.com/legal/privacy

Apple Health (iPhone and iPad only)

If you grant permission, the app can write health measurements to Apple Health on your device. The app reads no data from Apple Health. Health data written to Apple Health is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your device settings. We never transmit HealthKit data over the network.

Third-party services

None of the following receive personal or health information from the app.

  • Our drug API (self-hosted): medicine name and label lookup; sends an anonymous drug name only
  • OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): hospital name autocomplete; sends an anonymous place name only
  • Apple iCloud (iOS, optional): backup sync across your own devices; your own encrypted container
  • Apple HealthKit (iOS, optional): writes health measurements to Apple Health on your device only

We do not use any advertising networks, analytics platforms, crash-reporting services, social media SDKs, or data brokers.

App permissions

  • Notifications: to deliver medication reminders (optional; the app works without them, but cannot remind you)
  • Face ID / Fingerprint: to lock the app with biometrics (optional, disabled by default)
  • iCloud (iOS): to sync data across your own devices (optional, disabled by default)
  • Health (iOS, write only): to write measurements to Apple Health (optional, only requested if you initiate it)
  • Photo library: to set a custom profile photo (optional, only requested if you upload a photo)

The app does not request access to your contacts, microphone, camera, location, or any other permission not listed above.

Deleting your data

All data is stored on your device for as long as you use the app. You can delete any data at any time:

  • Delete a single medicine, profile, health reading, or doctor from within the app.
  • Delete all data at once using "Clear all data" in Settings.
  • Uninstall the app from your device to remove all locally stored data.

Because we do not receive or store any of your data on our servers, there is nothing held by us to delete.

Children's privacy

Dawai is a general health app for patients of any age. Because all data is stored locally on your device and we do not collect any personal information, there is no mechanism by which a child's data could reach us. If a parent or guardian has a concern, contact us at contact@nexudo.tech.

Your rights

Because we do not collect or process your personal data on our servers, most formal data-subject rights (access, rectification, portability, erasure) are exercised directly on your device using the controls described above.

If you are in the European Economic Area or UK, you have rights under the GDPR. If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA. If you are in the UAE, you have rights under the Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection (UAE PDPL).

Because the only data we could process is an anonymous search query with no identifier attached, there is no personal data held by us. We nonetheless commit to responding to any inquiry within 30 days at contact@nexudo.tech.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes we will notify you through the app or App Store update notes. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
